Directions

Brown one pound ground beef, remove from skillet. Sauté one large onion (chopped):

Add 2 quarts water to a large soup kettle. Add 5 large potatoes (diced), 1 can tomatoes and juice, 3 carrots (chopped), 2 stalks celery (chopped), 2 tablespoons kitchen bouquet, garlic salt, salt and pepper to taste. Add drained ground beef and sauteed onions. Simmer until all vegetables are tender. Takes about 45-60 minutes.

Notes

My boys call this recipe “Grandma’s Soup,” because my Mom started this tradition of preparing soup, hot bread and apple donuts on Sundays in the fall after going to the apple orchard or during Packers games.
